Madam Omobolanle Adenoye
Founder/President, Women in Agric Business Group of South-West Cooperatives
She believes women in agriculture should be owners and decision-makers, not only farmers and traders.
A major focus of her work is helping women move beyond subsistence agriculture into agribusinesses that can stand commercially.

A member’s story
From tomatoes and peppers to tomato paste.
Abisola Ijalana is a member of the cooperative and has worked with it. Her business is now growing, as she moves from just growing tomatoes and peppers to tomato paste.

Cocoa
Nigeria’s cash cropAbout two-thirds of Nigeria’s cocoa farmers live in the South-West: Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti. Its flavour is made after the harvest, when the beans are fermented and dried.
Cassava
The processor’s cropNigeria grows more cassava than any other country. It is usually eaten processed, as gari, and women play a central role in growing, processing and selling it.
Maize
Two seasons a yearTwo planting seasons: the early crop goes in from mid-March, once the rains are steady, and a late crop in early August where the rain allows.
Rice
Lowland and uplandMost of Nigeria’s rice is rain-fed: about half of its rice land is lowland fed by the rains, and nearly a third is upland farms.
Oil palm
Oil and kernel oilOne fruit, two oils: palm oil from the soft pulp, and palm kernel oil from the nut inside. Beyond cooking, both are raw materials for soap and cosmetics.
Poultry
Eggs and birds for saleEggs and birds for the family’s table and for sale, with maize among the grains the birds eat. Poultry raises both a household’s income and its food.How to join

Membership is not an instant loan. To be eligible to apply, a member must have been registered for at least one year and must have contributed to the cooperative's savings. This protects every member's money.
